Dr. Rick Ward Bio

Rick has been a principle at CVFP since 1988. As well as his clinical practice, he is actively involved in undergraduate, graduate and post graduate teaching in his role as Clinical Associate Professor with the U of C Faculty of Medicine. As well, he has held various leadership positions in Family Medicine: President of the Alberta College of Family Physicians (2008 – 2010), Physician Lead at Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network, Calgary Zone Representative for Representative Forum for Alberta Medical Association. Rick is currently Medical Director, Primary Care for the Calgary Zone with Alberta Health Services. He teaches and consults in the areas of educational program development for physicians and multi disciplinary teams across Canada and internationally. Areas of clinical interest include preventative cardiology, diabetes, ADHD, sexual medicine, psychiatry and chronic disease management. He is married to wife Cindy – they have two grown sons. One working in health care while the youngest is contemplating a second degree after completing his undergrad. In his spare time (what little there is!) he enjoys reading, hiking and fishing near his property on Vancouver Island.

    I have been a patient of dr Rick ward for over 30years only to be told with no warning when trying refil a prescription , that iam no longer a patient of his and need to find a new family dr. I feel in cared for by him and failed by our health system.
