Dr Mallia's theory is based on prescribing medications to the patients like any other psychiatrist. BTW, he made a couple of huge and dangerous mistakes with me. After 5 years of knowing each other he assumed that I was "also" bipolar, which I have never been diagnosed by any other psychiatrist before, neither by a very well known for his great careear neuroscientist. I am myself very informed in terms of psychology. Is the passion of my life. So, I remained consistently resistent to his insistence on prescribing me "litium" which is a component that, being I not bipolar, could have caused me to suffer major psychiatric illnennes. Still after 10 years, in a moment of crisis due to the switching from a drug to another, not only he wasn't aware that the drug's I was already taking at the moment dosage could have been encreasing, which advise would have avoied me to go to all the pan I went through for the next 5 months ...yet he insisted even more on the introduction of the "litium". I strongly resisted to it again! Bottom line, he cab be very confused on your diagnosis even after many years he knows you. BE VERY CAREFUL. At this point you really don't know what the real purpose of a psychiatrist is!!!
