We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

CAS [Children's Aid Society] hired gun Dr. Fahy diagnosed me 2003/11/20, [Assessment ordered by CAS 2003/11/06] with a Dissociative Disorder and BPD, the latter [BPD] she totally got wrong, should have been C-PTSD [From chronic childhood trauma], prescribed me Zyprexa and then everyone threw me under the bus. Was never offered treatment...nothing.

I found Dr Maeve Fahy, a psychiatrist of extraordinary capability...I saw her for many years and we worked through many of my issues together. Sometimes the work as hard or painful...eg, working through emotionally, the suicide of a family member.. so many tears...but I came out a more loving individual, and because I was solely parenting 3 children...she really secured happy futures for all. I cannot praise her enough.

Do not go to this psychiatrist! She ruined my life, last time I went to see her I asked to not be put on something that would cause weight gain or a dependency because I had just tried so hard to lose 75 pounds, plus I had just gotten off benzodiazepine and didn't want to get addicted.. So she puts me on Remeron/Mirtazepine, top 3 out of all psychiatric meds for weight gain and didn't warn me of the side effects. I went from 175 to 210 pounds in 6 months and now I can not lose the weight no matter how hard I try.. My weight just kept rising until I stopped the pills but they are causing me withdrawals and are next to impossible to try and get off them, causing severe panic attacks to the point where I have to take more. So I don't know if she's ignorant, doesn't care or did it on purpose but don't ever go to her unless you want your life ruined too.
