Dr. Eduard Bercovici Bio
As a neurologist I diagnose and treat many conditions. However, I specialize in treating patients with various types of seizure disorders and epilepsy conditions. My practive focuses on patients with seizures / epilepsy. I work out of my office at Sherway but also at Toronto Western Hospital. Patients can expect to have a thorough consultation, education and ongoing close follow up. In patients who have difficult to treat seizures will be investigated for different conditions using latest MRI, EEG, monitoring unit, genetic testing. In some patients who qualify and have difficult to control seizures may benefit from epilepsy diet therapy (such as modified Atkins therapy).
Dr. Bercovici began his studies at the University of Toronto in neuroscience. He was interested in epilepsy early on and completed his Masters thesis in neuropharmacology of epilepsy. After completing medical school and neurology residency he went back to finish an extra year of Epilepsy fellowship at the Toronto Western Hospital.
During his training he became interested in diet therapy for epilepsy. Armed with what he learned at Sick Kids and from his travels to Johns Hopkins epilepsy diet program he established the Adult Epilepsy Diet Clinic here at UHN. Working with our programs dietitian and nurse this clinic hopes to provide another treatment path for those with difficult to control epilepsy.
He has been devoted to the community being involved with patients groups and speaking to them about different facets of epilepsy care. He currently sits on the board of Epilepsy Halton Peel and also on Matthews Friends
In addition to seeing patients he is devoted to teaching and ongoing research in epilepsy and diet. For more information, please visit Dr. Bercovici's
