Michelle Haché Bio
Shortly after the birth of my second child I began to explore the possibility of becoming a doula. I was inspired by the care I had received during birth and postpartum. This inspiration turned to passion, verging on obsession. After many months of reading birth books, searching the net and watching birth shows, I knew that the passion for birth was not subsiding. I turned to Douglas College and enrolled in a DONA approved doula training course which I completed in 2006. I completed the requirements for DONA certification later the following year. It wasn't long before I also completed the comprehensive breastfeeding course for health care providers at Douglas College. Since that time I have attended many workshops and conferences to deepen my knowledge and understanding of birth and breastfeeding to continue to support women and babies in my work as a doula. I am active in my community volunteering on several baby-friendly committees and leading the La Leche League breastfeeding support group to support women to meet their breastfeeding goals. Recently I started sharing my experiences and knowledge as a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator with Douglas College offering 6 week prenatal classes. It is extremely exciting and gratifying to support families for birth. There is a movement towards normal birth and I am hopeful that every mother will embrace it.
