Janice Holmes Bio

Janice Holmes, Medical Director and Owner at HealthSCAN Thermography Clinic, Burlington, Ontario Janice Holmes, CCT, CAT(C) Emeritus, graduated from the Sheridan College Sports Injury Management program in Oakville, ON (now Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences, Athletic Therapy) in 1991. Throughout her education and professional experience, she realized that motivating people to consider all aspects of their health was a passion for her. Janice then discovered the technology of Thermography and became certified in Clinical Thermography in 2008 and has been practicing in Burlington, ON since. Janice has worked extensively with both provincial and national athletic therapists associations to grow and promote the profession and move toward regulating athletic therapy health care. She is a Past President of the Ontario Athletic Therapist Association (1997-2001) and the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (2003-4) and a past member of the International Relations Committee whose mandate is to focus on world wide establishment of relationships and ongoing communications with athletic therapy related organizations. Also, her present thermography clinical practice inspires Janice to stay current through courses and seminars. Blending scientific knowledge and her years of experience allows Janice to give relevant and interesting presentations to many different groups and organizations. Janice is both ready and willing to help those who choose a proactive lifestyle and to use thermography as an early detection screening and adjunct tool for full body and breast health. She believes, as do many health care professionals, that early detection of conditions provides the best outcomes.

Hip flexor strains can vary in severity, ranging from mild stretches or micro-tears to partial or complete muscle tears. Symptoms of a hip flexor strain may include pain and tenderness in the front of the hip or upper thigh, pain or difficulty with hip movement or walking, swelling or bruising, and muscle weakness.

Treatment for a hip flexor strain typically involves the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Resting the injured hip and avoiding activities that exacerbate the pain is important for healing. Applying ice packs to the area can help reduce pain and inflammation. Compression with an elastic bandage and elevating the leg when possible can also aid in reducing swelling.

In some cases, physical therapy exercises and stretching may be recommended to improve flexibility, strength, and promote healing. Severe strains may require medical intervention, such as medications or even surgery.

If you suspect you have a hip flexor strain, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or physical therapist, for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
