Raised in St. Thomas, Dr. Zimmer has always looked forward to the opportunity of returning to serve the people of his hometown. He attended Central Elgin Collegiate Institute, where he took a keen interest in human anatomy and physiology. Dr. Zimmer graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours), and then went on to pursue his education in chiropractic care at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. In his final year, Dr. Zimmer spent time treating patients at the St. John’s Rehabilitation Hospital (Sunnybrook Hospital), where he gained experience treating many day to day, motor vehicle accident, and sports related injuries. Dr. Zimmer successfully obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and graduated summa cum laude. In his spare time, you can find Dr. Zimmer running or cycling the roads of Elgin County, hiking a new trail, or at the Pinafore Park pickleball courts. As a long distance runner himself, Dr. Zimmer has a special interest in treating runners of all distances and experience levels – Dr. Zimmer utilizes running gait analysis to help identify running inefficiencies, improve performance, and determine possible biomechanical compensations to prevent running related injuries. Whether you have aches and pains from your desk chair, low back pain during your golf game, headaches at the end of your workday, or a sore/clicking jaw, Dr. Zimmer is equipped to assess, diagnose, and treat your condition. You can expect Dr. Zimmer to develop a treatment plan involving a variety of treatment options depending on your condition, and preference – these include: Spinal manipulation, spinal mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy (SMART Tools certified), myofascial release therapy, and rehabilitation. Dr. Zimmer will also be offering acupuncture at the beginning of 2021. Dr. Zimmer believes that your quality of life is everything, which is why he strives to empower each of his patients to activate their optimal health.
