Dr. Rose Martel Bio
Dr. Rose Martel is a family physician at the Telus Healthcare Centre in North Vancouver. Dr. Martel graduated from the University of Montreal in 2007 with a Doctorate in Medicine. She then completed a Family Practice Medical Residency in 2009 before relocating to a small coastal community then Northern Ontario to practice acute care medicine. Her love for the mountains led her to successfully undertake a Mountain Rescue Training Certificate in Grenoble, France and pushed her to move to beautiful British Columbia in 2011. Dr. Martel has a passion for sports medicine and completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of British Columbia in 2012. Over the following 5 years she committed her practice to research, treatment of acute and chronic athletic injuries, medical advisorship for WorkSafeBC as well as provided medical coverage for many different summer and winter sports, both locally and internationally. She also gained the skillset for ultrasound guided injections in 2015 and has been performing these procedures when needed for her patients or at the request of her colleagues for their own patients. In the next upcoming years, Dr Martel aspires to go to the Olympics as core medical for Canada. Dr. Martel also enjoys family practice as she appreciates the importance of advocacy and continuity of care. She particularly likes building relationships with her patients and educating them over time on prevention and management of their own medical conditions. She has more experience with youth and adults but is keen in building knowledge in elderly, pregnancy and infant care. In her downtime, Dr Martel has a passion for sport, animals and nature. You may see her in the mountains hiking with her two furry friend beagles, mountain biking or skiing with her loved ones, or gardening around her home.
