A local cardiologist can also work with your other healthcare providers, from your local registered dietitian to your local Pilates instructor.Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heartbeat, also called an arrhythmia, that can increase your risk of heart failure, stroke, blood clots and other heart conditions. A normal heart contracts and relaxes to a regular beat, but if you have atrial fibrillation, the atria (upper chambers) beat out of sync with the ventricles (lower chambers).

During a coronary angioplasty, a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into an artery, typically in the groin or wrist, and guided to the blocked or narrowed coronary artery. The catheter is equipped with a deflated balloon at its tip. Once the catheter reaches the target area, the balloon is inflated, which compresses the plaque against the artery walls and widens the artery, restoring blood flow.

In many cases, the angioplasty procedure is followed by the placement of a stent. A stent is a small, mesh-like metal tube that is inserted into the artery  of the heart after the balloon is inflated. The stent helps to keep the artery open and prevents it from re-narrowing. There are two main types of stents: bare-metal stents and drug-eluting stents. Drug-eluting stents are coated with medications that help reduce the risk of the artery re-narrowing.

Coronary angioplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia, and the patient is awake during the procedure. It is considered a minimally invasive procedure and has become a common treatment option for coronary artery disease. It can relieve symptoms such as chest pain (angina) and improve blood flow to the heart, thereby reducing the risk of heart attacks and other complications associated with CAD. I have been under Dr Yan's care since my heart attack a few years ago. The wait time could be long and the consultation could be rushed at times. But importantly, he knows what he is doing. He checked on my medications every visit, and I am pleased that my blood pressure and diabetes are pretty well controlled. I am still very much alive and kicking after all these years. I would recommend Dr Yan for his knowledge and expertise.

Worst cardiologist. NO COMPASSION. He doesn’t listen to your question interrupt you always while talking. If I did listen to him I am probably on bed until now. He told me to just go home and stop investigating why I am having stabbing chest pain. He relies on the ECG and eco stress tess results. Luckily, i was able to get an appointment at Toronto General Hospital - and diagnosed me with Pericarditis. Raymond Yan you are worst worst worst worst doctor that I met.. DONOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR.

This person totally missed my wife's pericarditis condition. He actually arranged the first appointment to be over the phone and after this first appointment, he ordered a stress test. The thing is, pericarditis can only be diagnosed by an MRI and/or by carefully listening to a patient's heart. Furthermore, patients with pericarditis should NOT exercise for about 3 months, as physical exercise worsens the condition. But this so called doctor ordered a stress test, which is a physical exercise and he did so without ruling out her pericarditis condition first. My wife suffered really bad after the stress test. Raymond Yan then had us in for an in-person appointment, where he solely relied on an ECG, stress test results and bloodwork to say that there is no problem with my wife's heart and that we should stop asking questions and stop investigating. He only listened to my wife's heart with a stethoscope after I asked if he will not... This he did with rolling eyes; the examination lasted about 20 seconds and was not thorough at all. Fast forward to about a month later, we pushed our family doctor really hard to get us into TGH's cardiac centre for a second opinion. There, the first thing they did is a thorough, about 3 minute exam with a stethoscope, where 2 doctors concurred and confirmed the pericarditis. My wife was put on meds and is now slowly recovering. This person should not be a cardiologist or a doctor at all. Never mind that he has no bedside manners to speak of, or manners at all. He will yell at you, interrupt you, stop you from asking questions as if he was some king of an ultimate medical authority. His misdiagnosis delayed proper treatment for my wife for at least a month. I don't know how he got his papers but he should not be a doctor, never mind a cardiologist.

Always late for appointments, no matter at office or on the phone. Once I had to wait in the office over 3 hrs. Always rushed speech. No bedside manner. Always repeating his comments and questions. When asked why certain medications, no answers, just take them to improve the condition is the general answer. No explanation on my condition. After referring me to do so many tests, nothing explained. Just asking me how I feel while his eyes are pasted on his monitor and voice recorder. Will not take time to explain the reports. What got to me was, he actually said that if still no results then I don't have to see him anymore?!?!?!

Hurry speech and no patience. More than 3 hours waiting time in the clinic. Mistakes included providing wrong information to patient in which confusion created between patient and hospital. 3 times consultations resulted in more than 3 mistakes were made.

Repetitive questions. Hurried speech that lacked clarity. Felt very uncomfortable especially when asked if I had any psychosis problems after asking him to speak slower and provide better explanations. SMH awful experience to endure when seeking guidance from a "professional medical practitioner"

Dr Yan is constantly over booked 1 hour plus behind and when you finally get to see him he has no memory of you and your visit is rushed. He once changed my medication as I was leaving because he made a mistake. Today was my fourth visit and I walked out. Now I must find a new cardiologist.
