We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

AS a family member trying to get a loved one some help for years, Dr. Laporte was a godsend. He doesn't sugarcoat the process, doesn't give false hope, just plain facts. He tries to get as much information as possible to reach a diagnosis and then outlines the steps, very long and hard steps, to try and help your loved one to the best of his ability and as much as the system allows. Did I understand the process before I spoke to him? No, but I certainly understand it better now.

I think the person that gave him 5 stars and tried to shame the others experience knew him in the past. Just sayin. He's hostile, doesn't listen, is unprofessional gives the wrong diagnosis, is rushed, standoffish and acts like someone that is past due and should retire.

I honestly find the other reviews to be unbelievable. Noel treated me for years and I only found this site in trying to reconnect with him. He is patient and understanding. If you haven’t met him and are only judging by what you’re reading online- I beg you- go meet him! I don’t know what to think off these other reviews but they don’t describe Dr. Noel Laporte at all. I felt compelled to write something here as my experiences with him were always positive. Just saying.

A terrible doctor! Told an actively suicidal patient,( in this context) that everyone has their right to die. Whether at home or in hospital. Then proceeds to mention one patient that she was successful 'doing it" within hospital with no affect on his face. He couldn't cared a less telling me this, then I was discharged for self harming. Thanks there doc for the outstanding advice, wish I was recording the convo! I'll follow up on my rights thanks for absolutely nothing and I'm now more hopeless than ever.

Tosses medication at you with ABSOLUTELY NO intention having your best interest of your mental health circumstances. No follow up AT ALL. Beg and plead to have him call you when you’re at your worst and receive nothing from him. He’s horrible.

Dr death. Stay away from this supposed "psychiatrist". He is an uneducated and unprofessional practitioner of doing what is not best for patients. If you feel like being tested as a guinea pig so that he can make money from pharmaceutical companies, then go see this doctor. He is not going to take your health seriously and will inflict pain and suffering for his own benefit and money. Be warned. This "supposed" doctor is evil to the core.
