Mario Portillo, D.C., is a chiropractor at AFC Physical Medicine & Chiropractic Centers. Dr. Mario Portillo is originally from the west Texas town of El Paso. He attended University of Texas at El Paso and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology. Dr. Portillo then attended chiropractic school in Southern California University and graduated in 2015. As part chairman of the rehabilitation to performance club, he attained an elite comprehension to functional movement and rehabilitation exercises. During internship at SCU, he was the only student invited to take part in a physical therapy specialty known as McKenzie exercises, a form of rehab helping with disc injuries. Dr. Portillo's passion for chiropractic started at a young age. Attaining injuries in soccer and mountain biking, chiropractic was always the perfect treatment for a highly active kid. Dr. Portillo went on to play in the high school and collegiate levels in soccer and still plays outdoor and indoor soccer during the week. He feels excited about helping people on a daily basis and is truly engaged in every patient’s injuries.  He enjoys staying current on evidence based chiropractic and physical therapy research in order to better serve his community. He speaks Spanish fluently and has attained a greater understanding for the medical language in Spanish. Dr. Portillo spends his time having fun with his fiancé and four dogs, hiking, running and traveling when possible.
