Dr. Julia Oberg Bio

Julia was raised in Lloydminster and is very excited to return to practice in her hometown. After graduating from Holy Rosary High School, Julia studied at the University of Saskatchewan as a Greystone Scholar. Convocating with Distinction, Julia earned a four-year degree in Physiology and Pharmacology before furthering her studies at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. In February, Julia graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree of Doctor of Chiropractic and was honored as the 2021 Salutatorian of her graduating class, ranking second highest in academic achievement. In that same month and after receiving accolades from her faculty clinician, Julia was awarded Palmer Clinic Intern of the month for exceptional patient care. While growing up in Lloydminster, Julia was a competitive swimmer and a member of the Riptide Swim Club for many years. She worked as a lifeguard, water safety instructor and for two years coached the Lloydminster Rebels summer swim team. Always community oriented, Julia also volunteered many hours to our local SPCA. Despite a very busy undergrad schedule, Julia found the opportunity to volunteer her time. She was the treasurer for the Canadian Club at Palmer for two years, organized webinars and seminars to assist students with career planning and helped assemble study guides to prepare students for Canadian Board exams. Additionally, she was a clinical teaching assistant and a volunteer tutor at Palmer for all classes. Julia has a passion for holistic health and has clinical experience with all ages and conditions with special interest in women’s health, pregnancy and pediatrics. In practice, she assesses and analyzes with a whole body approach and conducts chiropractic care through manual and instrument adjusting. Julia uses many methods including Activator Technique and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. Her care; however, is not limited to the above as she continually strives to learn new techniques and information that will help serve her patients and community. During the past five months while awaiting her twice ‘covid-delayed’ board exams, Julia dedicated her days to working closely with Dr. Atkinson. She was extremely helpful performing patient exams, recording patient notes and assisting with laser therapy treatments. Dr. Oberg is looking forward to helping new and existing patients on their journey to optimal health.

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
