Dr. Porr is a Sports Specialist Chiropractor at Orillia Sports Medicine. He began his education at the University of Ottawa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honors Human Kinetics and became a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. He later graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic and went on to complete a 2-year sport fellowship to become a fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences. He furthered his manual therapy education by becoming trained in Active Release Techniques�, and certified as a Functional Range and Conditioning Mobility Specialist�, and Medical Acupuncture provider through the University of McMaster. Dr. Porr�s education has placed him in unique educational settings including rotations in orthopaedic surgery, medical radiology, chronic pain, and sports medicine. This has provided him with a unique insight into the many aspects of injury management that a patient may find themselves in, and has provided him with the necessary knowledge to rehabilitate the more difficult and chronic injuries that commonly present to manual therapists. Dr. Porr has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and continues to act as a guest reviewer in the peer-review process. He has worked with a number of athletes at the national and international level and provided onfield coverage for a multitude of sports as well as the 2015 PanAmerica Games. Video analysis is a tool that Dr. Porr uses heavily within his clinical practice. Throwing athletes, runners, golfers, Olympic lifters and many other athletes perform movements that are too fast and complex to analize with the naked eye. Video analysis allows Dr. Porr to break these movements down and provide his patients with the information they need to improve their performances and avoid or treat any injuries they may develop. Dr. Porr is a strongly believes that movement is essential in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries, and advocates active participation in the rehabilitation process for all of his patients. He also will be directing the concussion management program at Orillia Sports Medicine.
