Dr. Gillian Altheim is a chiropractor who grew up just outside Stony Plain, Alberta. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, along with a Research Certificate in Kinesiology, from the University of Alberta in 2016. Following that, she pursued chiropractic studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2020. In addition to her chiropractic education, she also completed training in Neurofunctional Acupuncture through McMaster University in Hamilton, ON. Throughout her life, Dr. Altheim has placed a strong emphasis on sports, healthy eating, and maintaining an active lifestyle. She actively participated in hockey, soccer, swimming, and track and field while growing up. Her passion for hockey led her to play varsity hockey first with the RDC Queens and later with the University of Alberta Pandas. When it comes to her approach to chiropractic care, Dr. Altheim values the three pillars of evidence-based care: patient values, relevant research, and clinical expertise. She believes that considering these aspects is crucial in providing the best possible treatment for her patients. She strives to create an optimal environment and develop personalized treatment plans to improve her patients' overall functionality. Dr. Altheim's training encompasses a range of manual therapy techniques and modalities. Some of the treatment components she utilizes include spinal manipulation therapy, soft tissue therapy, exercise rehabilitation, shockwave therapy, Mulligan mobilizations, acupuncture, and kinesio-taping. She has also obtained a certification in postnatal rehabilitation, is a certified Emergency First Responder, and has had the opportunity to work with hockey and soccer teams during her time at CMCC. She enjoys working with diverse patient populations, including athletes, postpartum women, young families, and older individuals. Dr. Altheim is dedicated to assisting her patients in achieving their health goals.
