Frédéric Balg, M.D., FRCSC Directeur de la recherche Directeur scientifique du laboratoire d'anatomie Professeur Titulaire Chirurgie de l'épaule, arthroscopie et médecine sportive Correction angulaire et allongement et méthode Ilizarov Traumatologie orthopédique générale et orthopédie générale Natif de Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures en banlieue de Québec, Frédéric Balg s’est établi à Sherbrooke en 1994 pour y débuter son Doctorat en médecine dont il a gradué en 1998. Il entreprend par la suite sa formation de spécialiste au sein du programme de résidence en orthopédie de Sherbrooke qu’il complète en 2003. Pr Balg a effectué une année de surspécialisation en arthroscopie, traumatologie sportive et chirurgie de l’épaule au CHU-Nice (France) dans le service du Pr Pascal Boileau. Puis il a complété sa surspécialisation par deux mois à Lecco (Italie) dans le service de Pr Maurizio Catagni pour apprendre les corrections d’inégalités et déformations des membres par la méthode Ilizarov. Il occupe actuellement le rôle de directeur de la recherche du service d’orthopédie et de directeur scientifique du laboratoire d’anatomie. Il est chercheur régulier au CRCHUS et s’implique dans l’enseignement à la faculté de médecine tant aux études pré doctorales, étant notamment responsable de l’enseignement des pathologies fréquentes aux membres supérieurs, qu’aux études post doctorales en chirurgie de l’épaule et arthroscopie. Il a complété en 2018 un microprogramme de 2e cycle en pédagogie des sciences de la santé et participe à la formation continue des médecins de famille et spécialistes.
