We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

I worked as a nurse with Dr Edward Horn and he was the best I ever had the privilege to work with . And throughout my career I have worked wit them all. Knowledge , experience and empathy , he was a gift to his patients and staff that worked with him. No one ever came close to this amazing physician/psychiatrist I had the privilege of working with because very few will be on the list.

patronizing and condescending and rude. just seems to like to listen to himself talk. completely misinterpreted my words several times and did not want to listen to me further explain. talked to him for 3 hours and got nothing helpful, just left feeling awful vulnerable and misunderstood. also told me i should feel lucky i'm "not schizophrenic" which left a bad taste in my mouth

Excellent doctor. Been with him for many years. Caring and knowledgable. Probably saved my life as he stuck with me eventually finding a drug combination that allowed me to have a normal life.

Dr. Horn is an extremely knowledgeable psychiatrist. Some here who see him as being rude may be misinterpreting his sense of humor. When I first met him I thought him to be abrasive/rude/judgmental but after seeing him as a patient for some time now, I realize he is was never rude or judgmental. He has a dry sense of humor that may come off as being perceived as "rude" but he is a very caring doctor. And he does not fall asleep when he talks (in all the years I have been with him never has he dosed off). He likes to tell stories, including those involving himself, to make a point. He is a tremendous resource who understand mental illness. There is something to be said for experience and there is great value in that. But he is also up to date on all the latest studies so he does not just rely on his experience. He also comes across as someone who genuinely loves his work. The Royal is lucky to have him.

I had a consultation with Dr. Horn In 2014. Our consultation was 3 hours. I gained more insight and knowledge on my condition in that 3 hours than I had in 5 years of therapy with my psychiatrist at the time.My psychiatrist at the time was struggling to find appropriate medication to treat my concurrent disorders and GAD.as a result and as any good doctor would she referred me to Dr Horn for a consult. It wasn't my first encounter with Dr Horn, in fact it was my third. I'd had the pleasure of being treated by him in emergency care on two separate prior occasions. I have nothing but good things to say about this doctor He is exceptional. He has such a deep understanding that is unsurpassed by many other doctors and psychiatrists and social workers I've worked with. He has so much genuine care and knowledge and he genuinely cares about your well-being and he's blunt and honest and funny. I don't know what people are complaining about because I personally pleaded with this doctor to take me on as a patient. At the time I was working with Dr Brathwaite. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to work with Dr Horn. Currently the doctor I have at the Royal Ottawa hospital, is intolerant and actually arrogant. To have the opportunity to work with Dr Horne would be in not only my but anyone else's best interest if you have the patience to listen and learn from him he's brilliant absolutely brilliant. It's my hope that he may write a book one day, and share his knowledge and understanding on anxiety conditions. Yes, he does talk about other patients, as examples to help you understand where you're at in your treatment. He's candid kind compassionate and I have the utmost respect for him I think it will be a sad day when he retires. I would have no problem being a patient of Dr Horns and anyone who has them should be counting themselves lucky because there is much worse doctors out there especially at the Royal Ottawa. The royal is very lucky to have had such a good doctor for so long.
