I was a patient of Dr.Stearn for more than 12 years until he "relinquished our patient/doctor relationship" because of a few reasons. I believe he was frustrated with not finding a solution to my ongoing health issue. He had mentioned to me that the drug he had been administering me for years could cause him to lose his license because it shouldnt be an ongoing solution. So, I asked him to give me something else then and to this he replied, "nothing else touches it but this". My condition wasn't something that could go untreated for even 2 days or Id wind up in emergency. He wanted to send me to, yet, another of the same specialists I had seen too many times to count through the years of him treating me. I wanted to look other places, see other specialists to try to get a diagnosis. I wanted to find the cause and not just treat the symptoms. Because we disagreed about this, he sent me on my way. There was no argument, no harsh words, just a disagreement and me requesting to see others in different fields. When I told him I didnt feel like he cared(I mean, why would I? He was kicking me to the curb), he actually raised his voice to me. So I left his office in tears, still no answers, with a terrible unknown health condition with no doctor to treat me. To add to this, its a time where finding a doctor at all is difficult, nevermind filling one in about the last 12 years of this mysterious condition. I felt completely abandoned and lost all respect for him. Dr. Stearn appeared a great Dr. for many years and we had a great relationship. He pretty much knew everything about me, my condition and my personal life. Which is exactly why being cast aside by him hurt so terribly. I trusted his professional opinion, I just wanted to explore other options and had a right to request this. Never did I expect him to do this, it was unethical, never mind unprofessional. Like anything in life, you learn who is there for you when times are tough and Dr. Donavon Stearn deserted me in my time of need, putting his pride before my health. That, to me, does not a good doctor make.
