Dr. Jacobs is a chiropractor and researcher with a specific interest in studying musculoskeletal injuries in professional dancers. He is the Director of Artists' Health Research at the Toronto Western Hospital and is associated with Disability Outcomes (CREIDO). Dr. Jacobs conducted his research on musculoskeletal injuries in professional dancers in collaboration with elite dance companies, including the National Ballet of Canada, Toronto Dance Theatre, Royal Swedish Ballet, Cullberg Ballet (Sweden), Royal Danish Ballet, Batsheva Dance Company (Israel), and Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (Israel). His research involved investigating the prevalence of injuries among professional dancers, understanding dancers' attitudes and perceptions of injuries, and exploring issues related to injury reporting. This cross-sectional study is the largest of its kind in the field of professional dance and the only international study on this topic. Dr. Jacobs has presented his research at various international conferences and symposiums, including the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science's Annual Meetings, the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic Symposium, and the World Federation of Chiropractic's Congress. He has also published his research findings in scientific journals such as Spine and the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Jacobs works as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the University Health Network's Whiplash Intervention Trial, led by Dr. Pierre Côté. He also maintains a clinical practice in Toronto and serves as an Assistant Professor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in the Department of Clinical Education.
