The Montreal YWCA was founded in 1875 by eight women whose mission was to help immigrant women and those who had recently arrived in Montreal. The YWCA Founders’ immediate concern was improving the quality of life of women, by advocating for better working conditions and equal wages. Some of the YWCA Montreal's programs include:
