If you have irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, there is a lot you can do with your diet to help you gain control over your symptoms.

So everybody is different with what actually triggers their symptoms. So some of the common food triggers for IBS include high fat foods, processed foods, caffeine, alcohol and sometimes lactose. So it's important to try and figure out which of these food triggers are creating more symptoms for you, and then trying to eliminate them from your diet.

So other things you can do to help control your symptoms for IBS include the timing of meals and snacks throughout the day. So you want to be eating small, frequent meals and snacks, probably every two to three hours, to help decrease your symptoms.
