We know that their attitudes and practices around child injury have a big impact on how many injuries their children actually end up experiencing.

For example, if their attitudes toward supervision are more lax than other parents, then they might allow their children to do things unsupervised that other parents might not. If their child isn't quite developmentally ready for it, the child could end up getting injured.
