So treatment of rotator cuff injuries or tears of the tendons usually comprises again, non-surgical treatment for pain control.

You can use anti-inflammatory medications. At times you could even be treated with an injection of steroid. Subsequently starting physiotherapy to at least regain some range of motion of the shoulder and decrease pain.

And obviously if that fails, then usually a referral to an orthopedic surgeon - a shoulder surgeon would be helpful to be considered for shoulder surgery, to at least have a review of the tear of the possibility of surgical repair of the torn tendons. The torn tendons can be repaired arthroscopically or through an open procedure.

If you have symptoms of rotator cuff pain you should consult your family physician for at least an assessment and subsequent investigations and treatment.
