Featuring Dr. Kate Hays, PhD, C. Psych, Clinical Sports Psychologist Sports Psychology Injury Recovery Techniques and Tools Duration: 1 minute, 16 seconds

A sports psychologist can really help in recovery from injury in a variety of ways.

They can help by listening well, by helping with planning, with goal setting, with calming you down when you’re stressed, with some imagery and some ways of really imagining yourself well, imagining that part of your body really healing.

There are a whole bunch of tools that you can end up having for yourself, both for injury recovery and just for life in general.

Sports psychology is just this wonderful field, and it’s really open and available to anybody. It may be a nine-year-old gymnast who has had an injury. It may be a 65-year-old golfer who’s just got twinges.

It may be an Olympic athlete who has had a really devastating injury and wonders what’s happening with their whole lives. Sports psychology can be applied to a full range of human beings.
