Children and Cell Phones - Parenting
Duration: 1 minute, 1 second

Smart phones are great for about 15 and 16 year-old kids.

They're terrific because they can keep them in touch with the school better. For example, the teachers put stuff on Facebook for the whole class. However, they can also be used for bullying, and predators are out there fishing on the internet for children. So you don't want them to have mobile internet wherever they go.

Children nowadays are being sent links by people. They're being sent internet links and they're opening them up. And they're even doing that on non-smart phones. So parents need to be aware of how dangerous these phones can be for children.

There are blocks you can have put on phones for children. So you want to make sure you know what's available to you and for your children. Talk to your cell phone provider and ask them about parental blocks and make sure you get them put on their phone.

If you have questions about cell phone safety for kids, contact a local parenting coach.
