Breast MRI - Core Biopsy, Breast Cancer Duration: 54 seconds

There are approximately four groups of patients who benefit from breast MRI.

The first is patients who are at high risk of developing breast cancer. Those are patients who either have a very strong family history of breast cancer or who have tested positive for one of the breast cancer genes. Those women benefit from having screening MRI in addition to screening mammography.

The second group of patients who should consider having an MRI are patients who have just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Those are patients where we want to find the true extent of the disease before we begin the treatment.

The third group are patients who are receiving neoadjuvent chemotherapy, where we want to see if the chemotherapy is actually attacking the tumor.

And the fourth is patients who have silicone breast implants who are worried that the implant might have ruptured.
