Chiropractic is a regulated health profession that focuses on the nerves, muscles, and skeleton. At Village Chiropractic, chiropractors practice a hands-on, or manual, approach providing diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system, and joints. After taking a complete history and examination, a diagnosis is made and a chiropractor can develop a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise, and provide nutritional and lifestyle counselling. Depending on the condition, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment or may complement treatment by a medical physician, physiotherapist, registered massage therapist, or naturopath by relieving the neuromuscular aspects associated with the condition. What to wear to your chiropractic appointment: For most chiropractic appointments, as long as it does not hinder any of the assessment or treatment, you won’t need to remove any clothing. Try to avoid heavy, bulky, or restrictive items such as sweatshirts, jeans, skirts, and dresses; something thin and comfortable to move in, like activewear, is a great choice. At times, the chiropractor may need to visually examine the area, so wearing/bringing a change of clothes (ie. shorts, tank top) may be useful depending on the site of your injury. For an acupuncture appointment, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For certain injuries (such as hip, knee, shoulder, or elbow injuries), you may need to wear shorts, a t-shirt, or a tank top to better expose the treatment area.
