OUR DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES

Amma (without oil): also called "needleless acupuncture", this technique aims to eliminate energy blockages in the body by applying deep pressures, percussions and stretching.

Californian (with oil):
this technique allows the body to reconnect with all of its facets, whether physical, emotional or intellectual. This type of massage is characterized by fluid, enveloping movements of varying rhythm. It helps eliminate accumulated tensions and fosters a state of abandonment to deep relaxation

Lymphatic drainage (without oil): this massage is made up of precise, very slow circular movements applied to the surface of the skin, following the flow of the lymphatic fluids, thus eliminating waste and toxins accumulated in the body, while fostering rejuvenation of tissue.

Esalen (with oil):
a psycho-physical approach that comprises different manoeuvres that vary in rhythm and intensity, based on a philosophy of presence and understanding. This massage takes you on a real voyage of the senses that emphasizes perception, intuition and emotions.

Jin Shin Do (without oil): this is an energy massage that combines Japanese acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine and western psychotherapy. Aimed at relaxing the body and the mind, it involves applying pressure to two points simultaneously to loosen energy blockages or fill empty spots in the energy field.

Kinesitherapy (without oil):
this technique brings together all of the biomechanical knowledge we have of the human body. Through different manoeuvres, such as stretching and muscular and joint mobilization, this massage helps the body to recapture or maintain its maximum range of movement.

Lomi-atsu (with oil):
the Lomi-atsu massage is a fusion between two traditional techniques: the Lomi-lomi from Hawaii and the Shiatsu from Japan. It harmonizes the flow of energy by the application of different pressures with the forearms, elbows, hands and thumbs on the meridians (energy pathway of the body). It contributes to revitalize the body and to loosen the muscles. It also facilitates detoxification by the massage of the abdomen*. This technique is both therapeutic and relaxing.

* Abdomen massage offered in the 2 hours session or during the 1 hour session if needed after completion of the health check.

Pregnant women massage (with oil)
: this technique is for pregnant women to help them gain a measure of control over the many changes taking place in their bodies and the various discomforts that sometimes arise during pregnancy. It provides a moment of tremendous relaxation and comfort, while offering the possibility of discovering prenatal contact with the baby, who is very sensitive and receptive to touch as early as the fourth month of pregnancy. Take note that any customer pregnant for less than three (3) months will have to sign a release of liability before receiving a massage at Ovarium in order to comply to the requirements of our professional liability insurer.

Reflexology (without oil): this is a manual therapy that is mainly practiced on both feet through pressure points. The objective of this technique is to regulate the energy flow, relieving pain and muscular tension, while instilling a state of deep relaxation.

Shiatsu on a table or futon (without oil)
: an approach that works on both the body and energy flow, seeking to regulate the flow of energy, while, at the same time, attending to the muscular structure. This massage is performed using acupuncture's key pressure points and pressing on them with one's thumbs, elbows, knees and forearms, either over clothes (Shiatsu on futon) or directly on the skin (Shiatsu on table).

Sports massage (with oil): ideally suited to recovering from intense physical effort, this massage can be broken down into with various manipulations that help restore your body after an intense workout or physical exertion. It specifically targets active athletes who wish to improve their performance.

Swedh (with oil):is through global toning and stimulation, this massage is designed to maximize the body's movement capacity, while, at the same time, relaxing it. This massage is performed primarily on the muscles, through light to deep effleurage, tapping and kneading. It not only relieves muscular tension, it also has a very positive effect on the nervous system and breathing.

Thai on futon (without oil): this energy massage is characterized by the different pressure that your therapist applies on specific points using the thumbs, elbows and forearms. It also comprises physical work based on yoga and its dynamic techniques and variety of positions. This massage is performed over clothing and frees one's body of energy blockages as well as muscular tensions.

Orthotherapy (without oil) : following an exhaustive evaluation by the massage therapist, this technique treats the pathologies linked to the biomechanical system of the human body.

Trager (without oil) : using touch and movement development, this massage triggers psycho-physical reactions that help free the body and mind.   This is a gentle massage, characterized by flexible, rhythmic movements, primarily swinging and stretching. This massage relaxes the muscles and joints, leaving an overall feeling of well-being
