Golf Courses
Gold
The Gold course is based on Willie Park Jr.'s original layout. All of the holes have tree-lined fairways, many of the magnificent pines planted by the original owners of the land in the late 1800s. The bunkers and small, undulating greens challenge the better player on the Gold course. Number 6 hole is considered the Club's "signature" hole, and the last four holes on the front nine could determine the outcome of any match.
Red
Most members consider the Red course the toughest of the Club's three courses. The front nine has very demanding par fours, and because of the open fairways, the wind often affects play. The back nine finishes with four challenging holes, including Number 6 south, the Club's "signature" hole.
Blue
The Blue course starts with the "Spyglass" — the hole so named by United States President Dwight Eisenhower when he played at the Hunt Club in July 1958. Another celebrity player, Jack Nicklaus, named 7 West his favourite hole when he played at the Hunt Club in August 1960, as an amateur and member of the United States Americas Cup team. The Blue course combines the original Willie Park Jr. layout — small greens on the front nine — and the more modern "links' style of Thomas McBroom on the back nine.
Curling
The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club houses one of the finest curling facilities in the Ottawa region. Six sheets of ice, maintained by internationally renowned ice technician Kirk Smyth, support an active curling program that includes Ladies’, Men’s, Open and Mixed leagues for social and competitive curlers of all levels.
We offer Curling-Only memberships that feature clubhouse privileges 12 months a year and access to the club’s year-round social activities. The well-lit curling rink and comfortable curling lounge have easy access to lockers, showers and food and beverage facilities.
Founded in 1959, the Hunt Club Curling Program features league play, as well as numerous in-house events such as the fall Golfer-Curler and the Christmas Turkey bonspiel.
The 2009/2010 curling season will be an especially exciting one as the Ottawa Hunt celebrates the 50th anniversary of its' curling facility.
In addition to special 50th events, the club is excited to be hosting the 2010 Canadian Seniors Men's & Women's Curling Championships March 19-28, 2010.
Clubhouse
In the privacy of a modern, elegantly appointed Clubhouse, members gather to escape the hectic pace of their daily lives and enjoy the comforts of a first-class club.
Spacious lounges, bright dining room, and fully equipped banquet facilities are available to members and their guests. The banquet room, overlooking lush gardens in a woodland setting, offers full menu and bar service for up to 200 people, while the more intimate President’s Lounge – with seating for 65 people – is ideal for smaller dinner parties or business meetings.
On the main floor lies the heart of the Club and the members’ favourite gathering place – the Willie Park Lounge – named to honour the architect who designed the original golf course. In warm weather, the balcony adjacent to the Willie Park Lounge is also a popular meeting spot.
From the lower-level card rooms and Halfway House, there is quick access to modern men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, complete with showers and towel service.
