At Orthoquest, our mission is to provide high quality products and services in a friendly and fun environment to help you Move Well, Be Well. But our philosophy extends far beyond the four walls of our store front, it is a way of life we live and breath every day, and it is a message we promote throughout our community.

Orthoquest began in 2007 by a dynamic husband and wife duo Lise Dallien MacMillan and Sean MacMillan, during the day they saw patients at various health clinics around Kelowna then at night, in a friend’s single car garage, manufactured Orthotics. Fast forward 15 years, the many ups and downs of starting a small business and finding their “niche”, Orthoquest now has a beautiful store front in Kelowna that combines orthotics, shoes, bracing, and kinesiology, working together with the combined goal of helping people Move Well, Be Well.

Why Orange and Green? The colours of Orthoquest and Kelowna Kinesiology were inspired by Lise’s cargo commuter bike, the Yuba Boda Boda.

To us, movement is key. To move, means to change position, or to make progress. We believe in helping not only people Move Well but we also see the benefits of helping move our community to think better, to be better, and to do better. We believe that change starts within, beginning with us, with our employees, through our customers, and in the community at large – that is where “Quest for Kindness” was created. Through ‘Quest for Kindness’ we have been able to raise money for a number of non-profit organizations like the BC SPCA, sponsored local events like Bike to Work Week, and donated a variety of new (and gently used) shoes to those in our community who are in need!

As a small business, we see the value and importance of supporting other local entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations. Outside of regular business hours you can find us volunteering or supporting various non-profit organizations such as the BC SPCA, Kelowna Run Club, X-Elle Women’s Cycling group, The Kelowna Women’s Shelter, H.O.P.E Outreach, Special Olympics and many more.

Another key value to our company is education. Our education program allows our team members to stay up-to-date with the most recent research in their respective fields. In addition, by encouraging our team to be continually learning and growing as health care professionals, we discover new ways to innovate and grow our business, helping us to stay one step ahead. Our passion for education and drive to learn is what fuels us to also teach others. We continue to seek out opportunities to host student placements to teach and mentor new health care professionals, whether that is through Western University’s Pedorthic Program or UBCO’s practicum and Co-Op programs.

The importance of sharing our knowledge by helping to teach and share information with our community is not lost on us either, we host several community events and wellness workshops throughout the year all aimed to help people Move Well, Be Well. You can find those events on our Move Well platform by clicking here!
