How Does Massage Therapy Work?

Massage therapists use long, smooth strokes, kneading and other movements focused on superficial layers of muscle using massage oil or lotion.

Massage therapy improves circulation by bringing oxygen and other nutrients to body tissues. It relieves muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility and helps clear lactic acid and other waste, which reduces pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

Massage therapy relieves stress. It helps the body's stress response by lowering hormones levels such as cortisol. Massage therapy also appears to enhance immune function.

Why Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is used for relaxation or to assist with various physical and mental ailments like arthritis and tendinitis, stress and related conditions , headaches , sore muscles, spasms, strains, sprains , repetitive strain injuries, circulatory and respiratory problems , post-injury and post surgical rehabilitation and more.

Hot Stone Massage

This type of massage uses water-treated stones placed at specific areas of the client's body to assist with relaxation and to open the bodies merdians. Meridians are the pathways of qi (chi) and blood flow through the body. Qi continuously moves from one meridian to another. Any break in the flow is a sign of improper balance. If your energy level is hampered in any way it could be a sign your body is not operating properly, so your qi flow may be inadequate.

Muscles treated with heated stones let the therapist better perform deep tissue manipulation. Cool stones may be used with hot stones. Oils may also be used to assist with the massage treatment.
