Susan Deslippe Bio

Susan graduated from The Queens College, Glasgow in Scotland with a B.Sc. Degree in Physiotherapy (with Commendation) in 1987. She began her career working in a rotational physiotherapist position in hospitals located in the Aberdeen area of Scotland gaining valuable experience in almost all areas of hospital-based adult and paediatric rehabilitation. Since emigrating to Canada in 1990, Susan developed her clinical experience in private practice and completed numerous post-graduate, advanced manual therapy courses and CGIMS (Intra-muscular Stimulation or dry needling certification). From 1997 to 2000, Susan became a UBC sessional lecturer and taught undergraduate physiotherapy students the electrotherapy treatment component of their course and has always enjoyed mentoring future physiotherapists. In 2009, Susan became co-owner of Go! Physiotherapy Sports + Wellness Centre in the Dunbar area of Vancouver. She has continued to work clinically with clients of all ages and with all types of problems and has enjoyed the diagnostic and treatment challenges that this variety entails. In more recent years, Susan has developed particular interest and expertise in Women's Health including peri-natal health, continence and breast health, assisting each client through the various stages of surgery, breast augmentation and rehabilitation.

Why did you choose your current profession?

I have always been particularly interested in the medical field and physical health and fitness. I enjoy interacting with people and determining the best treatment approach and rehabilitation solutions that work best for each individual. I love the diagnostic challenge and variety that this profession offers in the clinic every day. It has been immensely satisfying to develop my own unique set of skills and knowledge that can make a difference in people's lives. As a physiotherapist, you are always growing and learning keeping work-life interesting. In addition, it is a profession that requires a high standard of dedication, integrity and service and of which I am proud to be a member.
