We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

My son had an appointment with the autism clinic at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Centre. We seen Dr Shirley Debrofsky. When we entered her office, the first question she asked us was "why do you think your son has autism?" It was made very apparent to us that she had not even looked over the file. Her very next statement, without spending any time with us whatsoever, was her recommending a book called "misdiagnosis", "not that she thinks we're wrong but at least its very informative". She continued asking us questions that were very condescending, and she refused to let us answer the questions fully without chirping in with her snide comments. Our son's OT came with us to the appointment, and she continuously made comments that made it known to us that she did not appreciate his being there. Then she started in on how its possible that our son had Tourette's Syndrome, even though we continuously tried answering her questions that he did not. When asked about getting a referral to a pediatrician that visits our hometown, she scoffed and said "no you HAVE to come see me again. no other doctors". her entire demeanor was just rude and uncaring. We went there for help with our son, and came out feeling stupid and belittled.
