We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

Dr Sheri-Lynn Cassidy is a quack. Apparently after seeing me for 20 minutes she knows me better than my own psychiatrist and psychologist that I have been seeing for over 8 months. Apparently because I’m “high functioning” (I work two days a week 3-4 hour shifts, apparently that’s high functioning to her) I can’t be mentally ill. Really doesn’t know what she’s talking about, not to mention her massive EGO. I would avoid the foothills ER for psychiatric reasons. Rocky view or SHC are much more helpful.

This doctor has zero training on domestic violence and the abuse cycle or what us victims go through. She did not even ask me what actually happened to me or how I was physically abused, sexually abused, emotionally abused and psychologically abused. Only briefly, but did not let me share my story at all. She only wanted to know how often I talked to the police and not what the actual content or evidence was for me to prove the abuse. She asked what the police response was rather than what were the actual threats and the actual abuse I have been through. She did not actually read the assessment previously with the information pertaining to police that corrected a lot of misconceptions police has in my case and advocated for me to get more support by the police to protect me. I told her statement he has told me regarding his authority with the police and his threats. She did not seem worried at all for my safety or my children's safety and she was completely the opposite of what the doctor assessed me previously. She was not transparent either in sharing with me anything she was assessing and would not give me the copy which was the only reason I went. She actually asked me do I plan to raise my baby with him, regardless of the fact he sexually assaulted me, beat me and gave me black eyes and continued to abuse me in many ways. She only asked me what are the police's reaction to me and did I have actual photos as if she thought I am making up the abuse. She asked me if I had problems with doctors, and all of these questions that were not at all relevant or important to my actual current issue with my x partner who is abusive and dangerous. She also has no training in child welfare or the effects of domestic violence.
