We all forget things as we age, but that doesn’t mean we have dementia. Dementia isn’t just one condition - it’s a term that refers to symptoms that cause a decline in mental ability that interferes with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia is the second most common dementia type and occurs after a stroke. Memory loss that worsens over time can be another type of dementia.  Pour plus d'informations et les services locaux des psychiatres locaux à Montréal et à Québec PQ, contactez votre psychiatre local

Going through motions, She has never read my file, 3 yrs. notes from doctor before her. Copied last doctor's (annual) form for my job rather than ask me questions. Doesn't know what my previous social worker thought. Current support worker (pleasant person) sits in silence and has never conversed with me, doesn't keep in touch with me. (I won’t seek out help from a stranger who hasn’t gotten to know me. IMO, bad leadership. (Support worker, a total stranger, said to call if I need help 1 or 2x.) They’re not a team. Responsibility is the Dr.’s. No leadership from Dr. no invovement. Just progress checks on meds which haven’t changed in yearsl Obsessively refills Rxs every month whether needed or not. Now Dr. Young wants to control my meds which were originally Rx and mostly titrated by a renowned specialist (now retired.) The other one — dose changed by her predecessor. I had dangerous reaction with a new med recently suggested by emergency doc. She suggested again it once. I reminded her I had taken it, had had severe side effects. Dr. Young wants me to come off one I've taken >20 years, and that still helps me. Thinks I may decide to get high on it. Briefly questioned if I'm getting too many per refill of an antidepressant had 20 years at an on-label dose. Makes big deal-condescendingly-about minor sedative (taken for at least 15 years) for anxiety. Ignores my protest, will not listen that I have plenty of experience taking care of myself and others and then says we’ll pick this up in a month. Then she does what she wants. If she read my file would know I use less than prescribed prn and fill infrequently. Doesn’t care about tripling my financial burden, my difficulty in managing multiple meds for several health problems. Doesn’t care she is causing me increasing stress. Is smarter than everyone? She thinks I can't be trusted with more than a little. I’m still here! But hasn’t read anyone’s interview notes or asked me anything about my physical health or mental history since we first met, nor my current situation. Never asked abut family. “Politely” disparaging of me and infanticizes me, my abilities to care for myself. I give rational, calm explanation. She does what she planned to do all along. Squishing me like a bug, Not letting me have a say in my own treatment Is doing more to push me over the edge than not having an psych-doctor would. My GP can Rx meds too. He can’t give professional help that she should. The last few months she has caused so much stress it made me worse than I had been. She makes me WANT to kill myself. Retire soon, Doc!

Dr. Young does not listen to what a patient has to say. She tends to force fed people on meds especially Olanzapine. No therapy was ever offered, all she asks you to do is to get rid of your pets or don't drive your car. Even though you are sleeping the whole day away she still wants to offered you more Olanzapine. All she ever wanted was to certify a client and would find any excuses to do so.
