Pilates teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. It improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It can even help alleviate back pain.

Developed from the rehabilitation techniques of Joseph Pilates, Pilates is a safe, gentle exercise system using a floor mat or specialized equipment. Whatever your age and physical condition, Pilates will get you in top shape.

More concretely, Pilates emphasizes proper breathing and correct spinal alignment to strengthen the deep abdominals and the muscles supporting the spinal column (the core). By concentrating fully on smooth, flowing movement, you will become aware of how your body feels, where it is in space and how to control its movement.

In Pilates, the quality of a movement is valued over the quantity of repetitions. Proper breathing is essential as it helps you execute movements with maximum power and efficiency. Finally, learning to breathe properly can reduce stress.

Conventional workouts tend to build short, bulky muscles. Weak muscles tend to get weaker and strong muscles tend to get stronger, which creates a muscular imbalance, a primary cause of injury and chronic back pain.
Pilates conditions the entire body, including the ankles and feet. It lengthens and strengthens muscles, improving their elasticity and joint movement. No muscle group is under or overtrained; your entire musculature is evenly conditioned, helping you enjoy daily activities and sports with greater ease and less risk of injury. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less prone to injury.
Pilates is particularly effective for improving sports performance or posture or achieving better health, and can help rehabilitate the body after an injury.

Pilates is a very flexible exercise system. Modifications can be made to the exercises to create a range of difficulty, from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Choose the program that best suits your needs.
Pilates transforms the way your body looks and performs. It builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen.
Pilates exercises train several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements. By developing proper technique, you can actually retrain your body to move more safely and gently.
Professional dancers have known about the benefits of Pilates for decades. Top athletes use it for strength, flexibility and injury prevention. Movie stars and models use it to maintain their long, slender physiques.
