Stress testing can be a useful tool to screen for cardiovascular disease.
I think it's much better to push an individual in a treadmill test in a supervised environment rather than find out what happens when they go up that steep hill on their bicycle, or if they get on a hockey rink and give it their all.
A heart stress test is certainly a way to to find out if there is significant cardiovascular disease. And it's a way to determine the risk and to prevent the problem before it happens.
