Dr. Mitchell & Associates

Dr. Mitchell offers optometry and eye care in downtown Vancouver. Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1977 and has spent more than 30 years in practice in downtown Vancouver. He has also been a consultant and clinical investigator for a number of contact lens and optometry solution companies.

Dr. Mitchell's downtown Vancouver optometry cinic is located on the sixth floor of the Scotia Tower.

Dr. Mitchell's downtown Vancouver optometry practice provides a wide range of eyecare products and visual health exams for patients. Dr. Mitchell specializes in a number of services, including the fitting of contact lenses (rigid gas permeable, soft (toric and bifocal), extended wear, silicone hydrogel and accelerated orthokeratology. Orthokeratology (Ortho k) is a special type of rigid gas permeable contact lens that is worn at night. It works by reshaping the cornea, flattening it to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism without contacts, glasses, or surgery.

Eye Exams Vancouver

We perform eye exams including retinal imaging, which can detect disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal holes or detachments and diseases such as stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure, and corneal topography, which can often detect diseases inside the eye.

Our downtown Vancouver optometry office co-manages laser refractive surgery and cataract surgery, and we also have an onsite lab to dispense eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses to our patients. Patient counseling is essential in the laser surgery process, and many factors influence the decision, such as degree of prescription, patient expectations, and alternative vision correction techniques.
