Motivated athletes - including weekend warriors - can be their own biggest enemy when coming to exercising when suffering from a viral illness.The belief that you can "sweat the virus out"is unfounded.
Current recommendations for exercise whilst sick:
Symptoms above the neck:start work-out at 1/2 intensity and if improved after 10 min,OK to do full work-out but not to max intensity.
Symptoms below neck or fever:Rest untill symptoms cleared,then resume exercise with 1st 2 days at reduced intensity.
