Sleep Apnea Treatment & Therapy

CPAP Therapy
CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) Therapy is the most accepted and successful means of treating sleep apnea. CPAP machines deliver a gentle flow of positive air pressure through a mask worn over the nose during sleep. This pressure acts as an “air splint”, keeping the airway open to allow normal breathing. The air pressure required varies from person to person. Today’s CPAP machines are quiet, portable and multi-voltage. Heated humidifiers can be used to warm and moisturize the air, making it more comfortable to breathe. CPAP masks come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials, enabling clients to choose a mask or nasal interface that fits comfortably.
Bi Pap is another form of a PAP system and requires a separate prescription from a sleep physician. A Bi-Pap has 2 set pressures; One for inhale and one for exhale. An auto machine is a self titrating pressure machine that can also assist in finding ideal pressure settings on a CPAP.

Positive airway pressure therapy involves wearing a mask, which is connected by tubing to an electric motor device that delivers air at positive pressure. This air pressure acts as an air splint to keep the upper airway open and prevent apneas.
